Last week we were at AutoContact’17, and it confirmed what we had already observed - the future is E and autonomous. On that, at least, everyone agrees. The tremendous shift we’ve seen in many other industries is not stopping at automative. It’s still in the future, but the future has already started. That was the unanimous tenor at AutoContact’17. Everyone is looking for their new position in the game, or facing the challenge of complete self-reinvention. It’s easy enough for the software industry, but a major challenge for, say, a valve maker, since E-mobility will definitely mean less fluids to move around in a car. So there is still much to do. The last comparable shift was 120 years ago, when steam gave way to the internal-combustion engine. A sense of anticipation is in the air.
